something by -A Frank- seen him live a few times great entertainer. A. Frank Willis, a legend in East Coast Music, passed away on Sunday, Feb 27, 2011 in Edmonton, Alberta, from a brain tumor. He was formerly from Dover, Newfoundland. Willis was the pride of the Maritimes and was one of Newfoundland's most well-known musicians. For the last number of years, he lived and performed in Alberta, but he always returned to Newfoundland to perform at Festivals in the summer.
As a singer, he also was known as a songwriter and was known to be a unique performer as he performed solo playing a variety of musical instruments at the same time. He played bass with his left foot, played foot piano with his right foot, a guitar swinging on his shoulder, a mandolin over the guitar, a harmonica around his neck, an accordion beside him, a banjo hanging in the air and cymbals and tambourines with the other foot, (that's 3 feet).
One of the most popular songs that A. Frank sang was, Take Me As I Am, a song that people will always remember him forever. A. Frank had several tapes & CD's to his credit, one popular CD titled Great Big Moose was his best work to date. He was 45 years in the music business with 35 years as a solo artist. He enjoyed everywhere he performed and was one of the most respected entertainers on stage and had a great respect for his audience.
