This song was the best known song sung by the Newfoundland comedy duo, Corey and Trina Crewe. It was written by Trina's brother, Don. I have heard it several times since I have been in Newfoundland, and thought it would be a nice one to learn.
I recorded it twice this afternoon with Gerald Freake at Peg's Bed and Breakfast at Fogo Island, Newfoundland, once with Gerald on harmonica and once on accordion. Unfortunately, it was the only song we had time to do, though we were preparing to record three. I'll put up the second take in a couple of days. I had never sung this song until yesterday - as you can probably tell!(less)
